Be an entrepreneur in today’s organizations, where the speed of socio-economic technological change, information overload, sustainability, globalization; it involves the development of competencies, skills, specific skills. These have been acquired throughout life or they can be improved. To be innovative, to have initiative, to be persistent, to be able to listen, to declare, to know how to make offers and above all to visualize the market in order to look for new opportunities.
The female entrepreneurship, women-mother-entrepreneur and mumpreneur also need to overcome other obstacles.
To the stereotypes related to the professional profile, skills to develop your business, solvency, autonomy, lack of recognition; it´s added the compatibility with domestic and family responsibilities. so, the woman finds herself on a level of inequality with the entrepreneur.
Versus with these obstacles, we must put in value the hidden curriculum of the mumpreneurs, that is, skills and skills acquired in their domestic and family work.
Among them are:
ORGANIZATIONAL AND MANAGEMENT CAPACITY. Perform daily tasks. Useful to manage the company in a long and short term.
ATTENTION DIVERSIFICATION. Need to attend and perform several tasks at once. Useful for the multifunctionality that requires the management of a microenterprise.
ADMINISTRATIVE. Family management the economic budget. Useful to manage the company budget.
IMPROVISATION. Resolution the unexpected situations and different problems before which it´s necessary to proceed quickly. Useful to deal with different problems, may arise with suppliers and customers.
EMPATHY. Be the family member that usually used to tell their own matters. Useful to find the needs of their staff and customers.
PRAGMATISM. Solve various problems in a practical way. Focus on solving the different problems that may arise.
NEGOTIATION. Dialogue with family members and the organizations stakeholders in which woman has collaborated. Useful to deal with supplier companies, staff and customers.
MANUALS. Realization of activities carried out in their leisure time. Useful for choice and expansion of activities.
SOCIAL. Relationship with the surrounding environment: family, neighborhood, teacher, associative. I deal with the customers, with the staff and with the administration.
TEAMWORK. Organization and tasks distribution. Organization of the company’s human resources.
KNOWLEDGE. Knowledge in health care, knowledge transmission and maintenance of their home. Useful knowledge the needs not covered by the market. Know the activities and services to offer to satisfy.
RESPONSIBILITY. Responsible for the welfare of dependents, the education of children that allows them to take on and manage a business project.
FLEXIBILITY AND ADAPTABILITY. Resolve familiar situations daily. Trained for the resolution of contingencies.
SELF-DISCIPLINE. Acquired by assuming daily work at home and the basic structure of operation covering the needs of all members at all times. It will be more resistant to frustration.
ACTIVE. Acquired by having a daily routine of attention to the people around him. They will be useful when searching for resources and information.
With these hidden skills and competencies, from the public agencies, together with technicians, it´s necessary to design entrepreneurial strategies focused on putting these competencies into practice. The purpose of these programs should be to encourage female self-employment by working from hidden skills and competencies.
It is necessary to achieve the empowerment of women, both personal business and collective.
